Who's this new person?

With Dad returning to work the last couple weeks (click here for the pictures), Mom was home alone with Zach all day. After a week and a half of dealing with the little monster, err, I mean Zach, reinforcements arrived.

Grammom Welde arrived on Thursday for two weeks. After a short bout with jet lag (we thought she was never going to wake up Friday morning!) she has become our new hero! We've gone on a couple trips out around town, had a nice dinner out downtown that included Zach's first trip on the subway, and Mom and Dad even slipped out for a few hours on Saturday night to attend a housewarming party. Grammom is offically welcome to come visit ANY TIME!

Grandparents are a good thing. Zach is eagerly awaiting Grampop Welde's arrival this coming Thursday! And he's counting down the days until Grandma and Grandpa Jarvis visit in April....

"Um ... Mom ... Dad... I don't think this quite fits."

Settling in at home

Week two of Zach's life comprised of lots of sleeping, his first bath, some Winter Olympics on the TV, and luckily for the newbie parents, not too much crying.

Here are the pictures from week two-- we're impressed how many pictures we've managed to take of a newborn! There's not much activity and only so many facial expressions this early in Zach's life. But so far he has been incredibly sweet and is starting to show off a bit of his personality.

In this photo, Zach is showing off his "Beast" shirt created by Brooke & Paul. A loving nickname given to him many months ago when he was taking over Jenny's body. Notice how the sleeves look rolled up making it look like a true "muscle shirt". Check out those biceps!

Homecoming!

Week one wrapped up with the Jarvii family finally heading home! (click here for the pictures) We had a few visitors on Sunday, then left the hospital early Monday morning.

The last two days at home have been an adjustment to life on our own with Zach. On Monday he was great sleeping most of the day. At night he even went through two long stretches of sleep that gave Mom and Dad some much needed rest.

Today we woke up with a list of things we wanted to accomplish, but of course got hardly any of them done. Looks like we still have some adjusting to do to life with a kid!

Day Three to Five: Aren't babies supposed to cry?

Days three, four and five were spent in the hospital, and Mom and Zach are still not going home until Monday. Gotta love that German healthcare!

Not too much action over the past few days except more visitors and phone calls from friends and family. It's been great getting to know Zach, especially since he doesn't seem to enjoy crying much right now (we're sure that will change though). He has a great demeanor, and when he does start to get flustered he has a cute wimpy whine that just makes us laugh.

Anyway, here are the photos for the past few days. Enjoy!

Day 2: Sleeping is fun.

Day 2 meant a lot of sleep for Zach. While sleeping he did manage to attend a photo shoot (an unexpected gift provided by the hospital) and hang out with his first visitor (Diane). In general though it was a day of rest and recovery for Mom, Dad and Zach. Click here to see the photos from Day Two.

We received many phone calls from friends and family, and look forward to reading and responding to all of the emails once we are home from the hospital and have more time online. We cannot thank everybody enough for all the kind words, love and support! Zach is looking forward to meeting everyone in person!
